Day 1: Washington, D.C. - Isaac Arrives

Hi everybody, this is Isaac. Dr. B and I want to welcome you to our travel blog. We'll keep you updated over the next two weeks on our Normandy Institute adventures. Today, I woke up at 2:00 AM and headed to DFW airport for my flight to our nation's capital. After listening to the 'Hamilton' soundtrack all the way through, I finally landed and met up with Dr. Borchardt at Ronald Reagan Airport. Now the adventure begins.
After a quick Metro ride to drop our luggage off, we headed to Union Station and bought Hop on and Hop Off tickets.  Little did we know that the greatest bonus of these tickets were free passes to Madame Tussauds Wax Museum.  We'll get to that later.  First up, some classic DC scenery.

White House - It's not that small
Dr. Borchardt here.  We eventually stopped at the Jefferson Memorial, so Isaac could have a picture with his idol from Hamilton.  We then walked along the Tidal Basin to the FDR Memorial where Isaac met a dog and I met the great man himself.

After a delicious meal at Shake Shack (better than Whataburger), we walked to Madame Tussauds. They had an excellent Hall of Presidents, where Isaac and I pretended like we were Bill and Ted, meeting some historical dudes.  You might recognize some of them.

We even prepared for our future Normandy beach landing by getting behind some bunkers.  Weren't the Germans, the ones behind the bunkers though?

We visited the U.S. Holocaust Museum (sorry no pictures allowed), met some of Dr. B's friends for a dinner.  Dr. B. had lamb, Isaac had G.O.A.T. Wings.  Now we're at the super nice dorm at the University of Maryland, and we're about to fall asleep, so we have to sign off.  Join us tomorrow, when the Institute kicks off in earnest.
